‘No man is an island…’ And no young person. Connection is a hot topic. Have smartphones and social media made us more or less connected? Did COVID-19 bring connection with neighbours where it was lacking before? Does the global village expand our connections beyond our immediate geography? Recently, a young person told me of the isolation he was feeling having moved to a new city. He found it hard to find people he connected with. He struggled to make friends, fit in, make conversation, understand his new course. But, he did have a particular interest. And once he knew there was a group just for that, he smiled and said maybe he would find his people there.
